How a revision round works
After the shoot, you’ll get a first cut on the date we agreed when booking. From there, each round follows the same rhythm:
- One point of contact. Pick one person to gather feedback from your team and send it to us. Notes arriving from five directions slow everything down.
- One written list. Put all of the round’s changes in one list, with timestamps where you can (for example, “0:42 — swap this shot for the warehouse wide”).
- We confirm the list. We send back the list as we understand it. You approve it.
- The round closes. Once you approve the list and tell us to start, that round is locked. New ideas are welcome, they just go into the next round.
Tip: Watch the cut at least twice before sending notes: once as your audience, once as your editor. The first watch tells you if it works. The second tells you what to change.
Corrections are always free
If something is wrong because of us, we fix it at no charge, and it doesn’t use up a round. Corrections include:
- Technical or editing errors (a jump in the audio, a typo we introduced, a color mismatch)
- Written direction you gave us before editing began that we missed
- A deliverable that doesn’t meet the requirements in your statement of work (SOW)
Changes of preference, new creative direction, or changes to work you’ve already approved are revisions, not corrections.
What counts as a revision
Revisions are changes you request to the creative or technical choices in the edit. Common examples:
- Timing and pacing
- Swapping music from our licensed library
- Color or audio adjustments
- Adding, removing or reordering shots
- Updating on-screen text or graphics
- Other changes based on preference
Two rounds, included
Every video project includes two revision rounds. Most projects land in two. If you need more, additional rounds are billed at $100 per hour and we’ll always tell you before a round becomes billable.
For photography, every gallery is fully edited. Retouching beyond our standard edit (skin retouching, compositing, object removal) is quoted per project.
Outside the original scope
Some requests are bigger than a revision. These need a new agreement and quote before we start:
| Request | Why it’s scoped separately |
|---|---|
| A new creative direction affecting more than half the edit | It’s effectively a new edit |
| VFX, motion graphics or animation not in the SOW | Specialist time and tools |
| New deliverables (social cutdowns, alternate formats, translations) | Each is its own edit and export |
| Anything needing new filming, talent, locations or production days | It’s a new production |
| Restructuring the piece beyond its original purpose | The brief has changed |
| New assets (graphics packages, custom stock, extra music licenses) | Outside costs we pass through |
Good news: most of these are easy to add. Ask, and we’ll send a quick quote.
Approval and final delivery
Approval of a round is final for that round’s scope. After your final approval, we deliver finished files in every size listed in your SOW, with the usage rights described in our copyright and usage terms. Changes requested after final delivery are quoted as new work.
